DESIREE LEE
BIOGRAPHY

Desiree began training in ballet at 4 years of age with encouragement from her mother as a way of keeping fit without realising how this would change her life. She ventured into Chinese Dance and Modern Dance too. By then, she had realised that dance was and has always been part of her life.

In 2004, Desiree joined New Revolving Age Dance Club in Ngee Ann Polytechnic Singapore, representing her school/club and won many dance competitions with them. She also gained valuable experience in numerous public performances. There, with the support of her dance mates, her passion for dance evolved into Hip Hop. Desiree's understanding for Hip Hop increased tremendously with the guidance of dance instructor Ann, whom she regards as 'superwoman'.

In late 2006, she was involved in a professional dance production that showcased a wide range of dance forms; from Latin Jazz, Lyrical Hip Hop, Old School, Nuskool, Power Jazz, MTV, Techniques etc. Before leaving for Melbourne, she had the opportunity to share the same stage with W.C.O and Oschool in the International Hip Hop Festival and that is one experience that she will never forget.

As a Beatphonik member, Desiree hopes that she can contribute to Beatphonik and their motto: to inspire, create, dance.

It is not exactly weird, but there was once I was driving and unintentionally broke into some popping moves while waiting for the traffic lights to turn green, and from the way he looked at me, I bet he must be thinking I was having fits.

If your dancing style could be a colour, what would it be and why?
Maybe, red? My instructor used to say that I dance in a sultry way.

Biggest ñ My dance pants from the army market. Brightest ñ Old School checked blouse that comprises of red, orange, yellow and green. I donít like bright clothing. Loudest ñ erm. I prefer to be safe when it comes to clothes. I am a ìbasicsî person.
